Klementinum to Children

Nadační fond manželů Livie a Václava Klausových has decided to continue its support in the field of cultural literacy of children. Besides the success of the children’s visit to the Summer Shakespeare Festival 2005, the Fund gladly exploited the offer of the National Library of the Czech Republic and made it possible for children from children’s homes to do a tour of Klementinum.

In the summer months of years 2006 and 2007, 264 children and their carers from the whole of the Czech Republic visited the historical building of Klementinum. Each visit was ended by a climb to the astronomical tower which offers a beautiful view of Prague.

These visits were connected with a short meeting with representatives of the Fund at the Fund’s seat and with a tour of the Prague Castle led by a professional guide of the Prague Castle Administration.

From the very beginning, when we addressed the children’s homes with such a project and according to the first echoes and immediate experience which stem from personal meetings with the participants, it has been a very welcome project which aroused extraordinary response and interest.

Therefore, we will be glad to continue with similar activities co-operating with the National Library of the Czech Republic in the forthcoming period.
